Yarn Snobbery
I’ve been knitting for all of a day and half, and I’m already becoming a yarn snob. This really shouldn’t be a surprise because I buy Macs. I mean, really, wouldn’t you figure that someone who owns a Powerbook would quickly develop a grudge against acrylic yarn?
I’ve been using some acrylic yarn that I bought on Saturday evening, and it has this terrible tendency to split, which in turn causes me to knit stitch fragments and end up with more stitches. Yesterday, Allyson finished up my kitty hat and had some of that Noro yarn that she bought left over. She offered the little fragment to me, the nascent knitter. I’ve been knitting this wonderful wool yarn since Allyson left for work about an hour ago, and I’m absolutely in love with it. I can’t figure out why I’d ever use anything of lesser quality. Even when I get in real trouble with my stitches, the yarn simply doesn’t fray/split. Excellent stuff.
