Multiple Choice

For each question in this section, choose the answer that best approximates your feelings. If you're unsure, go with your first impression.

  1. How do you relate to friends?
  2. I am extremely social. I don't know how I'd get by without my friends.

I enjoy the company of other people, but I'm not afraid to go it alone if I have to.

While I enjoy a good discussion or debate, I'm generally happiest by myself with a good book.

When around other people, I'd prefer to be the person in charge. It's easiest to take credit and assign blame that way.

  3. Would you ever break a promise to a trusted friend or colleague?
  4. No, when I make a promise to someone I care about, I intend to keep it.

It's hard to deal with hypotheticals. I would try to make the best decision I could based on the information I had at the time.

If it was for a good cause, I might have to.

Situations change, and my word is most certainly not my bond. I have no problems with outright lying if there's an advantage to be gained in doing so.

  5. While walking around town, you notice a man with a knife to another man's throat. The armed man has his back to you. What would you do?
  6. Walk away as quietly as possible. It's not my problem, and I might get hurt if I get involved.

Maybe try to throw something at the guy? I'm going to do something to help because it's the right thing to do, but I wouldn't really know exactly what until I was in the situation and reacting.

Watch from a safe distance to figure out what's going on. Gather as much information as possible and then contact the police with all the details necessary to track the criminal.

Get away from the dangerous situation quickly and alert the authorities immediately.

  7. If I had the choice, I'd most like to be:
  8. The person in charge.

    A scholar, researcher, or academic.

    A renowned hero.

    The life of the party.

  9. You're bored on a Saturday night. What next?
  10. I'd find a good book/magazine to read or maybe a nice program on the Discovery channel.

I'd go out with some friends.

I'd look for something more exciting -- movies, games, TV...anything's more exciting than just sitting around.

Send a quick email to a boss or teacher with a question I already know the answer to. That way they'll think I'm working over the weekend and will look on me more favorably.

  11. I primarily use the Internet for...
  12. Downloading things for free that I'd otherwise have to pay for.

Talking to friends via instant messaging and email.

Learning new things and gathering information that's hard to get otherwise.

    Playing online games.

  13. Your teacher/boss has given you an extremely repetitive and boring task. How do you proceed?
  14. Dig in and get started. The sooner I start, the sooner I'll get finished.

Look for a more intelligent way to do it. If it's essentially repetitive, then there's probably a more efficient way of approaching the problem that my boss/teacher either hasn't considered or wants me to learn about on my own.

Put it off as long as possible and then do it all right before the deadline in a heroic burst of effort.

Convince someone else to do the task for me and still take credit for the overall result.

  15. When is deception justified?
  16. It's always wrong to tell a lie or mislead someone.

Depends on which moral framework you're using as a frame of reference really. Justified by whom? And for what reasons?

When it works to my advantage.

When it's for a good cause.

  17. Those who succeed do so because...
  18. They use the advantages that they have to their fullest potential.

They are willing to take chances.

They have trained their mind to be quick.

    They didn't give up trying.
