Rusty's Favorite Desserts

Generally speaking, given the choice of dessert or another serving of savory dinner foods, I will choose savory dinner foods almost every time. However, I do occasionally get a hankering for dessert. These, dear readers, are my favorite desserts.

  • Peach cobbler. Though born in Ohio, I have been raised in the South for the greater part of my life. Like any good Georgia girl, my mother knows how to make quite a sinful peach cobbler. I have her recipe, and I've been threatening to veganize it for some time now.
  • Banana pudding. I'm certainly not referring to that "banana"-flavored crap out of a box. Real banana pudding is homemade and involves chunks of bananas and some form of Nilla Wafers.
  • Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Everyone puts raisins in their oatmeal cookies, and then end up just tasting like little chunks that don't fit in with the cookies as a whole. Chocolate chips melt and form a piece of the overall oatmeal cookie gestalt. And if you have no idea what that means, rest assured that they're really effing good.
  • Halloween cupcakes. When autumn sets in, I suddenly develop a hankering for cupcakes. I didn't put together why until 2006. You see, when I was a child, I used to beg my parents for cupcakes from the grocery store bakery all during the month of October because the cupcakes were decorated with little Halloween-themed toys. When I got them, I would spend the rest of the day playing with my toy vampire or spider ring. Now, I crave cupcakes once per year. Damn you, consumer programming!
