Life Experiences That I Want

  • Publish my own comic book (graphic novel). I'm tired of just consuming other people's products. I want to tell my own stories and share my life experiences with others.
  • Learn Ninjitsu/Bujinkan. I want to be able to defend myself in a fight, and I feel that a martial art might be an excellent way to practice mediation as well. I've always wanted to learn how to effectively use a sword and other weapons. Also my inner ten-year-old wants desperately to be a ninja.
  • Learn to speak Japanese. Ever since I was a child I've had this vision of being able to just buy imported Japanese video games and play through them. I would also love to pick up a foreign newspaper and be able to read it.
  • Take my home completely "off the grid" with renewable energy. I feel like all of the steps I take to reduce my energy usage are just half measures. Yes, I'm drastically reducing what I might otherwise be consuming, but until I take the step to actually do something tangible in a positive direction instead of just reducing my negative direction by varying degrees, I won't be truly satisfied.
  • Grown my own vegetables. I would love to be able to make meals that include my own freshly picked produce. In fact, this is the only type of gardening I have any interest in whatsoever.
  • Create an office/studio space in my home. I want a drafting table, a writing surface, and a computer desk. This area should have excellent lighting and a comfortable, professional atmosphere.
  • Be offered the chance to write one of Marvel's Spider-Man books. This is my vision of ultimate success in comics. I don't see the point in half measures, so this is my goal. I will be offered this opportunity, and I will almost certainly take it.

Long Term

  • Build a strong relationship with Allyson that makes each of us more effective than we could be individually.
  • Create an atmosphere of openness with my wife that supports honest and earnest communication about any item, large or small, that crosses our minds.
  • Be the dependable resource that others in my life go to when they need help.
  • Create an environment I look forward to working in.
  • Own a home so that I'm investing my money in something tangible and reliable.
  • Provide for my own retirement without dependence on what others may provide.
  • Ensure enough surplus to take my family on a vacation each year without going into debt.
  • Create and maintain an emergency savings repository to weather bad times without debt.
  • Complete a marathon by the time I'm 30.
  • Maintain weight at 75 kg or less for one year straight and never let myself be overweight or obese again.
  • Become fluently bilingual (spoken and reading comprehension).
  • Share the knowledge I accumulate in order to help others.
  • Create the content I would enjoy consuming.
  • Give away items of value without regret and without pride.
