Wallpaper
From Digital Alterity Wiki
Back when I was playing with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop an awful lot, I made these background images to keep my desktop interesting. These days I tend to just use photographs I take as backgrounds, but if the web server logs are any indication, many people still find and use these images on their own computers.

Apple Logo in Space
This background was absurdly simple to make. I had a vector Apple logo hanging around from when I created it for another project. I just placed the Illustrator file into Photoshop, screwed around a bit with transparency, and created my star field using a trick I learned from reading Scott Kelby. In spite of its simplicity, it's still one of my favorite backgrounds that I've ever created.
Fountain
I took this picture of a fountain while staying at the Wyndham Resort in Orlando. The camera was on a timed exposure at about midday, resting on the lip of the fountain.
Hello Kitty Rising Sun
I originally threw together this background back when I made the Hello Kitty used in my Starry Angel illustration. I've never been all that fond of using the Starry Angel illustration as a background because the outlines look terrible to my color blind eyes when viewed on top of the dark blue background color. I threw this little bit of fun together using the flag from my Ninja illustration. This illustration is by far the most popular image ever on Bactroid.net.
Moogle
I created this background back when I first made the moogle illustration. I wanted a way to put my cute litle moogle on my desktop so that I could quickly admire it with Exposé. I just put him on a glaring pink background and added the word Kupo in Photoshop, adding a stroke to the type layer to get the outlining just right. The typeface is acutally Jester-24pt. I've had Jester around ever since I found it on a free website back when I was taking little pieces of the Internet home from high school on floppy disks.
Slytherin Seal
I originally did an illustration of the Slytherin House Seal some time ago. I decided to turn it into a full-fledged desktop wallpaper when I decided to create a desktop wallpaper section of Digital Alterity. I antiqued the seal by meshing together several different procedures that I saw online and in Photoshop trick books. None of them was giving me quite the result I was looking for. I ended up giving the logo sort of a sepia tone and created dust and scratches through a combination of adding noise, gaussian blur, and some distort effects. The flames were all done by hand using a combination of the liquify tool and various layer blending modes. The green smoke is nothing more than a Photoshop cloud render.
